A new drama mystery series, Whitstable Pearl starring Kerry God, is now available to stream exclusively on Acorn TV.
The six-part series is a much anticipated crime drama set in the Kent seaside town and filmed in various locations around the South East.
Based on author Julie Wassmer’s popular murder mystery novels, Whitstable Pearl follows local restaurant owner Pearl Nolan as she sets up a local detective agency after her early policing career is cut short by an unexpected pregnancy. The Whitstable Native is soon invested in her first case when close friend Vinnie is found dead.

Despite the pandemic, filming was still able to go ahead in 2020. A majority of the filming was centred in and around Whitstable itself, with scenes shot at Whitstable Harbour, Whitstable West Beach, Whitstable Yacht Club and Tankerton Beach, as well as features of other local businesses within the town centre.
In October last year, Whitstable Pearl production came to The Kent Event Centre in Detling, transforming our conference centre into Pearl’s seafood restaurant, where filming commenced for several weeks.
The Kent Event Centre is a versatile filming location with excellent indoor and outdoor space and facilities. Our Clive Emson Conference Centre, where filming for Whitstable Pearl took place, is an adaptable self-contained space, covering 1,700m2 and offering underfloor cabling, multiple cargo doors and a large commercial kitchen. The remaining episodes in series 1 will be released weekly for streaming.
